Licence

The Skincare theme is GPL software. This page explains what that means for you in practice, and what a Bluerizon licence actually buys.

Skincare is licensed under the GNU General Public License v2 or later, the same licence WordPress itself uses. You may use it, study it, change it and redistribute it. We cannot take that away, and we would not want to.

Images, fonts, demo photography and the Bluerizon name are not covered by the GPL. They are licensed to you for use in sites you build, not for redistribution on their own.

Updates, support and a licence key. That is the honest answer. You are not buying permission to use the code - the GPL already gives you that. You are buying the work that keeps the code current: WordPress and WooCommerce releases, PHP versions, browser changes, and a person to email when something breaks.

When a licence lapses the theme keeps running. Nothing switches off, nothing phones home, no nag screen takes over your dashboard. What stops is updates and support.

A site counts as one activation while the theme is active on it. You can move an activation between sites - deactivate on one, activate on another. Staging and local development copies of a site you have already activated do not count separately.

From the Freelancer licence up you may build and hand over client sites. The licence stays yours: you receive the updates and you apply them. What you may not do is sell or transfer the licence key itself, or give a client the key so they can use it on sites you did not build.

If a client wants to take over updates directly, they should buy their own licence. That is cleaner for both of you, and it means their site keeps getting fixes when your working relationship ends.

You may of course redistribute the GPL code itself, with or without changes. That is the licence working as intended. What you cannot redistribute is our service.
